They're doing what‽

I mentioned on our forums that episode three hadn't gone the way I'd expected it to. It was suggested to me that maybe I toss up a blog entry explaining that, so what the hell. This contains spoilers for anyone not caught up (through three) so the rest is behind the cut...

I don't know why I expected things to go differently. In retrospect it went much more like things would normally go, in real life anyway. I'm so accustomed to playing in games where it's so well understood that no one should ever tell the authorities anything that it actually goes unspoken; too many White Wolf games I suppose. Then I decide to run a game that takes six totally-normal-yesterday people and expect them to follow that tenet why? It's a testament to our players that their characters skipped right past the pact of secrecy and just called the fucking cops. I mean, who the fuck wouldn't call the cops after being kidnapped and hearing gunshots?

It's been a lot of fun so far (we've finished through episode 10 as of this blog), the characters definitely throw me for some loops, though any GM knows to expect that as the norm more than the exception. I was REALLY surprised when they set fire to that Homecoming dance in episode 07 though, definitely didn't see that coming...
